Special Guest Speaker: Richard (Rich) Vidmar is a Water Resources Manager with Aurora Water
Rich began his career as an Engineer with Aurora Water in 2005 after graduating from Colorado State University with a BS in Civil Engineering. Prior to his tenure with Aurora Water, Rich worked for the US Bureau of Reclamation at the Mt Elbert Power Plant Water and Operations section at Twin Lakes for 7 years. Rich's father, Tom, was the Superintendent of the Homestake Water Project and he grew up at the Otero Pump Station in Buena Vista. Rich has been involved in several major projects for Aurora Water including the Prairie Water Project and initiated the ongoing Wild Horse Reservoir project.

Aurora Water is proposing to built an off-channel reservoir called Wild Horse Reservoir near Hartsel, CO, in Park County about six miles west of Spinney Mountain Reservoir. Aurora Water is evaluating a reservoir sized to hold 93,000 acre foot.  No new water rights or decrees are being pursed for the project.  Wild Horse would give Aurora the ability to better manage water from the Arkansas and Colorado River basins that it already owns the rights to.  The National Environmental Policy Act study will be implemented by the Bureau of Land Management. Aurora is working with Park County to minimize impacts and maximize county benefits. Recreation is likely to be permitted on the reservoir including fishing. Aurora will be working with Colorado Parks and Wildlife on a recreation plan.
