Community Science to Power the Future of Fisheries ConservationonWater Fish, Trout Unlimited, USGS, and Conservation X Labs (previously WildMe) are officially launching TroutSpotter, a groundbreaking program that uses artificial intelligence to transform how anglers contribute to fisheries science and conservation using patented fish length estimation from a photo and community science.



TroutSpotter is free to join. Download the onWater app, create a free account, and skip the optional plus trial when prompted. You can upload trout photos and contribute to conservation without paying for any subscription.

How to use TroutSpotter for free (no payment required):
  1. Download onWater from the App Store.

  2. Create a free account.
  3. If you see a screen offering a free trial or subscription, choose the option to skip/continue without trial.
    • If you already tapped “Start Free Trial,” no problem—see the cancel steps below.
If you accidentally started the free trial:
  • Apple won’t charge you today, but the trial will auto-renew at the end of 14 days.
  • You can cancel immediately and keep your free account:
    • On iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → onWater → Cancel.
  • If you believe you were charged in error, reply with the email you used to sign up and we’ll help you sort it out.




Fall Willow Planting - Volunteers Needed!

2025 PPCTU Fall Willow Project
October 25th - Harvest & Plant Willows

Project: PPCTU Willow Project in conjunction with the Coalition of the
Upper South Platte (CUSP) is 1 day of harvesting AND planting willows at

the Eleven Mile Fishing Area (site of old dam now removed). Interested
volunteers can sign up at ppctu.org or contact me.

Where To Meet: October 25th at Eleven Mile Fishing Area parking lot.
Time: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Directions from Colorado Springs: Take HWY 24 to Lake George and turn
left on HWY 96 and follow road for 1.1 mile. We will be at the new parking
lot just before the entrance to the canyon. We will have a TU Event sign

at the parking lot entrance.
PPCTU will supply the necessary tools for the weekend effort including
augers, drills, shovels, buckets, pruners & ATV. We will have the
Chuck wagon on site to feed the volunteers.

Volunteers Should Bring:
✓ Appropriate Clothing for the weather - Raincoat, Hiking Shoes, or
Boots - Work Gloves Sunscreen, sunglasses & Hat - Waders
(optional) - Any necessary Medication - Folding Chair for Lunch –
Signed Liability Sheet

PPCTU Presents at Ellicott Elementary STEM Day!

PPCTU presented the Greenback Cutthroat Trout Life Cycle Game as part of the STEM presentation to 4th Graders at Ellicott Elementary on their STEM day.
The Life Cycle game explains the Life Cycle and the trials and tribulations for the Greenback.
PPCTU provides copies of the game to educators to use in their classroom.
