Conservation Education

Education is very important to PPCTU in carrying out its mission.

Each year many opportunities are available for volunteers to teach, mentor, and learn about the conserving, Protecting and Restoring of our cold water resources and their surrounding environments.

In order to sustain the effort of our volunteers the Pikes Peak Chapter, consistent with Colorado TU and TU, is actively working to engage the next generation of conservationists. We do this through education and outreach to the Pikes Peak’s community, providing hands-on, field-based opportunities that foster awareness for the connections between Colorado’s trout, water resources, the environment and themselves. By fostering a strong conservation ethic in in our community, we work to ensure that natural resources will continue to be protected by and for future generations.

We also strive to bring enjoyment to our outreach efforts too. Perhaps our most fun outreach effort was through beer, Bear Creek Porter is a Rye Porter developed through the cooperation of the Pikes Peak Chapter of Trout Unlimited and the Pikes Peak Brewery. The purpose is to bring to the attention of the public the state of affairs for the very small population of remaining Colorado Greenback Cutthroat Trout in Bear Creek.
