PPCTU has participated in the River Watch program since 2003 at which time the chapter chose Bear Creek and
Severy Creek on Pikes Peak to monitor and protect.
Each month chapter volunteers collect water samples from each of these streams then process these samples for various characteristics as well as sending them to CU for chemical analysis.
Dissolved Oxygen, pH, Temperature, Hardness and Macro-invertebrates are determined by local volunteers. Dissolved metals are determined by CU students. The sample data may be viewed by the public:
