April 23rd Membership Meeting

Special Guest Speaker:
Miles Groth is a 6th Grade Teacher for the Mountain Academy of Arts & Sciences at Ute Pass Elementary in Chipita Park, Colorado.  Miles created the Mountain Academy of Arts & Sciences (MAAS) program ten years ago with the goal of providing a unique approach to public education that focuses on experiential learning, integrated lessons, and environmental stewardship. Miles led an effort in 2022 through which the MAAS became the only school-based program to earn Leave No Trace Youth Program Accreditation (now LNT Gold Standard Youth Program).  Miles is a 2024 Colorado Teacher of the Year Finalist and a Colorado Certified Environmental Educator. For 8 years, the MAAS has partnered with Trout Unlimited to run Trout in the Classroom (we have over 150 trout currently in our classrooms!), teaching students fly tying and fly fishing, ice fishing, and monitoring the health of nearby Fountain Creek.
